Resident's extended hours parking permit
New off-street resident’s parking permits for those qualifying residents solely impacted by the extension of evening and Sunday charges
Following the extension of parking charges to evenings and Sundays at some car parks in Cheshire East, we have extended our residents off-street parking permit scheme to cover more areas.
Permits will only be valid from 6pm to 10pm Monday-Saturday and from 8am to 10pm on a Sunday to cover the period when the new charges are in place.
Eligibility
If you do not have access to off-street parking, and you have parking restrictions such as yellow or white lines outside your home, you may be eligible to apply for a 12-month parking permit for a specific car park at reduced cost.
Even if your address falls within 150 metres of a town centre car park, you must comply with the criteria listed in the ‘conditions’ to be eligible to apply for a permit. 150 meters is the distance considered to be reasonable for someone to park within the vicinity of their home and still have quick and easy access to their vehicle.
Important points about resident's car park permits
- Even if your address appears to fall within 150 metres of an eligible car park (i.e. a chargeable car park where evening and Sunday charges are being implemented from 00:01 on Monday 26/5/2025), you must comply wth the criteria listed in the ‘conditions’ to be able to apply for a permit
- You can only use your permit for one designated car park
- You can apply for more than one permit (up to a maximum of 3 per property), but all vehicles must be registered with the DVLA to the applicant at the same address
- Each permit is only for a particular car – you can only use a permit for the vehicle to which it was allocated
- The vehicle for which the permit applies is insured at your address, is taxed and has a valid MOT
- A permit does not give you a reserved space nor guarantee you a space
- You can only use a residents permit for a private car or van under 3.5T gross vehicle weight
- You must display the permit on the driver's side of the windscreen when you are parked, or you will be liable to pay normal charges – if you fail to display either the permit or pay for the parking session, you may receive a Penalty Charge Notice
- There may be a waiting list for permits - if you do not have a permit and are parked on a pay and display car park you must purchase a ticket from the machine or pay via RingGo
- Any abuse of the permit scheme will result in the permit/s being rescinded
- There are no appeal rights against the council’s decision to NOT issue a permit
