Recycling and bin collections

Collection details

Check your collection day or download your calendar

Your bins are emptied on the same day each week. Your recycling and garden bins are emptied one week and the non-recyclable waste bin on the following week on a 2 week cycle.

You can have up to 3 bins, a recycling, garden and other non-recyclable waste bin. Place your bins at the end of your property, beside the road on your collection day. Return them to your property as soon as possible after collection.

We won't collect additional household waste, garden waste or recycling, left beside your bin.

Missed collections

We are unable to empty your bins for any 1 of these reasons:

  • your bin isn’t on the kerbside collection point by 7:00am on the day of collection
  • the bin lid cannot be closed. It must be closed so the collection crew can attach the bin onto the vehicle safely for emptying
  • the wrong bin was presented on the wrong day
  • the bin is too heavy
  • there is non-recyclable waste in the recycling bin
  • we cannot access your property, for example, due to road works - for this reason we will try again within 5 days

Report a missed collection

You can tell us about a missed bin one working day after the missed collection. We will aim to respond within 5 working days.

Additional garden waste bins

We offer 1 free garden waste bin to all residents. Some households have larger gardens and would like more than 1 garden bin.

For an annual charge of £52 we will empty an additional garden waste bin on the same day as your free garden bin.

Renew your additional garden bin or find out more about garden bins.

Extra bins

We understand that larger families may need some extra space for their refuse and recycling.

Request a large or additional bin

Bulky waste collection

We will collect bulky waste for a charge, see the  bulky waste collection page.

Difficulty putting out your bins

If you have difficulty moving your bins you can apply for an assisted bin collection service.

We will provide the service for a fixed period. After this time, you can re-apply. We may withdraw this service at any time if we believe you are no longer eligible.

When you apply for this service, we may ask you for proof that you are eligible.

You won't be eligible for the assisted bin collection service if you live with someone who is 16 years old or older who could put out your bins.

Apply for an assisted bin collection service

Assisted bin collections will happen on the next bin collection, as long as the collection isn't on the same day you applied.
