Tytherington School – Proposed Expansion
The Local Authority has a statutory duty to provide sufficient school places for children resident in its area. An analysis of the latest pupil forecasts has identified the need to provide an additional 150 secondary school places in Macclesfield in response to increasing pupil population from housing developments.
Following discussions with the Local Authority, the Academy Trust at Tytherington School have considered the need for extra school places in the area and have agreed to publish expansion proposals.
The proposal is to expand the school by 150 places each for years 7-11.Further information regarding the rationale for expansion can be found in the consultation document.
16 February - Consultation closed
Consultation on the proposed expansion of Tytherington School has now closed. All the feedback will be collated and reported back to the board of directors at the school.
They will make a decision on whether to go ahead with the expansion based upon the feedback and the pressure of places in the area. If a decision to expand is taken, the school will submit either a Fast Track Application or a Full Business Case to the Regional Schools Commissioner.
The Local Authority will also consider all feedback received in order that a decision can be taken on whether to approve the funding of the proposed expansion.
