Stapeley Broad Lane C of E Primary School proposed expansion
The Local Authority has a statutory duty to provide sufficient school places for children resident in its area. An analysis of the latest pupil forecasts has identified the need to provide additional primary school places in Nantwich in response to housing developments.
The data produced indicates the need for an additional 105 school places (years Reception to year 6) which would provide 15 more reception class places from September 2020.
Following discussions with the local authority, the governing body considered the need for extra school places in the area and resolved to publish an expansion proposal for Stapeley Broad Lane C of E Primary school.
Further information on the need and rational for the additional places can be found in the consultation document. (PDF, 386KB)

Feedback from the consultees indicated that the “most fundamental” issue of the proposal related to highway operations and safety. On this basis, the Council commissioned a Transport Statement to provide transport and highways advice regarding potential mitigation measures that would be required as a result of the increase to pupil numbers.
The Statement concluded that following a review of the existing situation, the proposed expansion is expected to have a negative impact on the highway network under existing conditions as a result of a significant increase in vehicle trips which could exacerbate existing on-street parking issues within school peak hours.
In light of the above, the potential expansion of Stapeley Broad Lane Primary School is not recommended under existing highway conditions.
