Shavington Academy- Proposed expansion and proposed Resource Provision
The Local Authority has a statutory duty to ensure that there are sufficient pupil places to meet the current and future demands for pupil places across the borough. Similar to other areas in Cheshire East, Shavington has been facing a growth in the demand for places driven by an increasing pupil population and new housing developments.
The proposal for expansion is to provide an additional 150 places for years 7 to 11 with a proposed implementation for September 2023.
In addition to the expansion of mainstream places the council have completed a sufficiency review of its special educational needs provision across the local authority. This consultation also includes a proposal to include a Resource Provision for 14 pupils with a primary need of Autism. The allocation of a place in the resource provision will be allocated by the local authority SEN panel, the proposal is that the places would be available for allocation from September 2023.
