Ivy Bank Primary School - proposed reduction of resource provision
Historically, Ivy Bank had a small resource provision which increased to 15 places in 2002. From 2005 onwards, the provision has gradually increased due to more children being placed by the local authority and from 2015 numbers have been steady at 21pupils
Within the past 10 years, there has been a shift in the profile in need
of the children placed at the school, where a recent review by the local authority found the provision to be specialist and working as a unit rather than a resource
Whilst 'excellent practice is taking place', quoted in the local authority review document, the headteacher, governors and local authority are in agreement that a reduction in numbers is needed to ensure the highest quality of provision is delivered.
