Congleton secondary schools - proposed expansions
The Local Authority has a statutory duty to provide sufficient school places for children resident in its area. An analysis of the latest pupil forecasts has identified the need to provide an additional 300 secondary school places in Congleton in response to increasing pupil population particularly from housing developments.
Following discussions with the Local Authority, the Academy Trusts at Congleton High School and Eaton Bank Academy have considered the need for extra school places in the area and have agreed to publish expansion proposals.
The proposal is to expand both schools by 150 places each for years 7-11.Further information regarding the rationale for expansion can be found in the consultation document.
18 December - Consultation closed
Consultation on the proposed expansion of Congleton High School and Eaton Bank Academy has now closed. All the feedback will be collated and reported back to the board of trustees at both schools.
Both board of trustees will meet in the new year and make a decision on whether to proceed with the proposed expansion. If a decision to expand is taken, the schools will submit either a Fast Track Application or a Full Business Case to the Regional Schools Commissioner.
The Local Authority will also consider all feedback received in order that a decision can be taken on whether to approve the funding of the proposed expansions.
