Basford East Development Consultation for New Primary School

The Local Authority has a statutory duty to ensure that there are sufficient and suitable primary and secondary school places for children resident in its area. Similar to other areas in Cheshire East, Shavington has been facing a growth in the demand for primary places driven by an increasing pupil population and new housing developments.

The proposal is for a new 1 form of entry primary school which will provide places for an additional 210 pupils for Reception to Year 6 pupils with a proposed implementation for September 2025. The proposal aims to provide a new provision in the Basford East Development area. The school will be built to include the supporting infrastructure to prepare for the future option to expand to a 2 form of entry school (420 pupils).

Please refer to the consultation document which provides further information regarding the proposal. A Basford East site map is also attached for information.

22 May - Consultation Closed

Consultation on the proposed provision on a new primary school on the Basford East development has now closed. All the feedback will be collated and reported back to the Children and Families Committee.
