School appeal timescales
Appeals for Secondary Transfer into Year 7 and Reception Intake received by the closing date are normally held during May to July each year.

Appeals lodged after these dates (late applications for appeal) will be heard within 40 school days of the appeal deadline or 30 school days of being lodged, whichever is the later date.
In year appeals
Appeal application must be lodged with the relevant Admission Authority within 20 school days from the date of notification that the application for admission was unsuccessful. Appeals are normally heard within 30 school days from the date the completed appeal form is received by the Admission Authority.
Notification of the appeal hearing will be sent to appellants 10 schools days in advance of the hearing. If an appellant wishes to provide additional evidence which was not included in their original application or appeal form this must be received 5 working days before the hearing date. Otherwise the Panel is entitled to decide not to accept information or evidence submitted after that deadline.
Responsibility for admissions in Cheshire East schools
The Local Authority (LA) is responsible for
- Admissions to Community Schools
- Admissions in Church of England Voluntary Controlled Schools.
In Catholic and Church of England Aided Schools, Foundation, Free and Studio Schools, the school governing body or academy trust is responsible for admissions.
Please refer to our information booklet(s) to ascertain who is the Admission Authority for the school(s) you wish to lodge an appeal(s) for.
In Academies it is the school's governing board/Trust who are responsible for admissions and you should contact those schools direct for further information regarding appeals.
After the appeal hearing
You will normally be notified of the Panel's decision in writing no later than 5 working days of the hearings being completed. Decisions of Appeals Panels are final and binding on both the Admission Authority and the school.
