Extensions and Householder Development Supplementary Planning Document
The Extensions and Householder Development Supplementary Planning Document was adopted by the Borough of Crewe and Nantwich Council on 15th July 2008.
The Borough of Crewe and Nantwich Replacement Local Plan Policy RES.11 (Improvements and Alterations to Existing Dwellings) sets out the Council's policy for such development. This Supplementary Planning Document provides greater detail concerning the Council's intentions when dealing with householder planning applications and supplements the policies in within the Replacement Local Plan.
The guidance set out within the document is not intended to be prescriptive; but to provide property owners and their agents with an indication of what the Borough Council would wish to see in respect of extensions to domestic buildings. Each application will be judged on its own individual merits and the purpose of this Supplementary Planning Document should be taken as guidance in relation to applications for householder development or extensions. It is intended that the document will encourage good design. A well designed good quality extension can add value to a property.
Many alterations and small extensions do not require Planning Permission and may be carried out under the provisions of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 1995 (as amended). Further information is available from the Planning Portal and the Communities and Local Government websites.
