Work continues to create additional school places across Cheshire East
Work continues to create additional 140 SEN school places across Cheshire East with the extension of Springfield School in Crewe well underway with an estimated completion date of April this year.
The Cheshire East sufficiency statement shows that there is a need to increase specialist school places in the borough as too many pupils have very long journeys. One in five pupils attending specialist schools have a journey over 45 minutes each way.
Ongoing work is also taking place to open the new SEN Free School which is due to open in September 2020 with 40 places. The new school, called the Axis Academy, will be built on the former Lodgefields School site in Crewe and will support pupil development across all key stages.
