Update on Council SEND Restructure
30 October 2019
Following our last update on our SEND restructure, we have been busy interviewing during September and have offered posts to all three locality managers, additional key workers and two business support officers. At this stage we are unable to provide you with names as we are going through employment checks and awaiting acceptances of offers made. We still have one key worker vacancy which we did not fill and have gone back out to recruitment for this post.
The field was strong for all posts and we are extremely pleased with the appointments, all will bring considerable experience, knowledge and skills. We involved parents and schools in the process as your views on the candidates were important in ensuring applicants demonstrated the right attitude, culture and values. Parent and school representatives were very impressed with the candidates and had a big say in agreeing who we appointed.
We have also had some interest in Education Psychology positions and we will be progressing additional capacity in the service, along with the introduction of associate Education Psychology posts.
As successful candidates need to give notice it is likely to be the New Year before we are fully staffed but this should make a significant impact in the service levels from the SEND team.
As soon as we are able a structure chart with names by locality will be issued and we hope to be able to hold coffee mornings though the parent and carer forum to introduce staff to parents.
