SEND Ignition

SEND Ignition Event

We held our very first ‘ SEND Ignition’ workshop at Macclesfield Town Football Club recently, with seven young people and parents from Park Lane Special School aged between 13 – 16 years old.

The event was a result of a successful bid from the National Development Team for Inclusion (NDTi) who run the Preparing for Adulthood (PfA) programme which aims to support young people with paid employment, good health, independent living, friends, relationships and community inclusion.

It was an action packed day, facilitated by members of the NDTi where the young people told us about what they want to do when they are older.  This ranged from helping others, working with dogs, becoming an actor, living with friends and working as at butler!

Key partners including commissioning managers, adult social care, supported employment and health were there to listen to their aspirations and think about what they will do to make these dreams a reality.

Katy, one of the parents said “It’s been very beneficial today because it’s made me think about the future…what Freddy wants…its been helpful to really put down on paper your thinking and make a plan.”

Watch our short film about the event.
