Farewell to SEND Locality Manager – Matt Lowe

8 February 2021

We wanted to share Matt Lowe’s leaving message, as he left the Cheshire East Council SEND Team at the end of last month. Matt was a SEND Locality Manager covering the north of the borough will be sorely missed. Watch this space for news of his replacement and other changes to the team.

Matt told us: “After just over 13 months working in my current role as SEND Locality Manager (North) for the SEND Team, I have made the difficult decision to leave, following being successful in securing a position back at Wigan Council, managing their SEND Team.

“I wanted to take this time to thank each and every single family, school, professional and service that I have been fortunate enough to work with during my time at Cheshire East; I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as Locality Manager and my experience has been enriched by all those who have extended their support to me along the way, and for this, I would like to thank you all. I would especially like to thank my colleagues in the SEND Team who have been nothing but kind and supportive throughout.

“My time at Cheshire East has enormously broadened my experience in SEND and has acted as a catalyst for enriching my own personal and professional development; I am hoping that I will be able to transfer the knowledge and skills I have learnt at Cheshire East to my new role, and share and implement some of the amazing things that are continuing in Cheshire East, when I return to Wigan. Whilst the world of SEND continues to pose significant challenges, particularly in light of the everchanging world we have been forced to live in over the past year, I am more motivated and passionate than ever, to continue to try and make a difference to the lives of the children, young people and families that we all collectively want the best possible outcomes for.

“Whilst the SEND Service continues to grow and develop, I have witnessed the team go from strength to strength over the past 12 months and whilst they remain on a constant journey to continuously improve the service they provide, I am confident that further improvements will continue to be made, and that our children, young people and families will continue to benefit from this in the days, weeks, months and years to come. There is a breadth and wealth of knowledge, skills and experience within the team, which my amazing colleagues continue to put to good use every day, but most importantly, there is the drive, want and passion to continue to improve and provide the best possible service to all of our children and young people with SEND and their families.”

We wish Matt all the very best in his new role.
