Engaging with children and young people

Since January 2019 Our SEND Youth Forums have been attending different meetings to discuss their views, updating videos, designing and reviewing paperwork and learning new life skills.

Our Third Event for SEND Children and Young People

We held our first event this year to capture the views of children and young people with  SEND at Park Royal Community School in Macclesfield on 6 March.

Local children took part in fun activities including pass the parcel and mask making as well as learning how to stay safe and telling us what they think about our health and education services.

The event was supported by our Macclesfield SEND Youth Forum, Cheshire police and the Cheshire East Council commissioning team and was attended by three local primary schools.

The Autism Strategy

In January 2019 young people attended a consultation at Bevan House with health professionals and members of the public, to review the new autism pathway. Young people also suggested developing a resource that supports those newly diagnosed with autism and those working with them.

Students at Church Lawton School were given the opportunity to scrutinise the easy read versions of the autism pathway so their views could be fed back to the Cheshire East Council commissioning team. Students will also be working together to produce and critique an autism friendly video to promote the SEND Youth Forum.
