The Prevention Team
The Prevention Team offers specialist 1:1 early intervention to young people and families where there are complex needs that require a ‘key worker’ to co-ordinate or deliver specialist interventions targeted to reduce identified risks with young people at risk of, or already involved in, anti-social, offending and other risk taking behaviour within the community.
We offer an inclusive whole family led intervention to families identified as requiring support as part of the Cheshire East Family Focus programme; to address a range of complex issues where children are key to the identified concerns; or where the parenting style requires an intensive approach to introduce routine, structure and boundaries and address other complex needs through the co-ordination of an identified Key Worker.
In addition, we:
- consult or may be involved separately or alongside children’s social care in joint assessment and intervention with young people, who demonstrate either ‘Harmful Sexual Behaviours’ or ‘Problematic Sexual Behaviours’
- deliver 1:1 Parenting and delivery of Triple P, Challenging Years and 123-Magic parenting courses, Changing Places relationship work and Tandem Teen/Parent violence are all areas of our work.
- utilise the CAF assessment tool to co-ordinate packages of support with other statutory and voluntary agencies targeted at producing positive outcomes for young people living in Cheshire East.
- provide an opportunity for early intervention and aim to improve the short and long term outcomes and aspirations for the young people they work with, as well as the whole family.
Referrals are received from a number of sources including the multi-agency ‘Preventing Offending Panels’ (POP), CHECS , Early Help Brokerage and Children’s Social Care.
The Prevention Team covers the whole of Cheshire East.
