Forest School - Teggsnose Woods
Date: Wednesday 11 September 2019.
Description: Recent research suggests our children spend less than an hour outdoors everyday, less than an adult in prison. Yet spending time outside brings benefits to mental and physical health and well being.
Greenwood Growth Forest Schools aim to link people of all ages and abilities to their immediate natural environment, and foods that are available within it, and encourage them to enjoy learning, at a pace that suits their developmental interests. We believe in making learning fun and encourage risk taking to develop confidence, resilience and emotional intelligence.
Typical activities include exploring, games, swings and ropes, physical challenges, tool use, nature crafts, environmental awareness, foraging, shelter building. Participants will need arms and legs fully covered and sturdy, ideally waterproof, boots or shoes. Warm clothes and waterproofs will be needed if chilly and wet as some time may be spent on the floor.
Suitable for accompanied children over 2 years old. Younger children and non-walkers welcome but may struggle with some of the activities.
Time: 10.30am to 12.30pm.
