The Childcare Business Grant Scheme

The Childcare Business Grant Scheme is now open to newly registered early years childminders, childcare providers on domestic premises and CMA in England (CMA’s)

Eligibility requirements

In order to be eligible for this grant you must:

  • be a childminder or childcare provider on domestic premises or a CMA in England
  • be registered with Ofsted or a CMA on the Early Years register and be able to provide a copy of your registration certificate
  • be a new business i.e. You must have been registered with Ofsted or the CMA for less than 3 months and have already started your business (but not before your Ofsted or CMA registration)

You must also:

  • plan to deliver the 30 hours funded childcare entitlement for 3-and 4-year-olds yourself, or in partnership and be registered with Cheshire East to do so
  • spend the grant on costs directly related to setting up your business and retain proof of how you have spent the grant
  • not have received a grant under the Childcare Business Grant Scheme before unless you are now applying as a CMA
  • not be a private nursery, after school club or any other type of provider

From 1 May 2017, if you have been registered with Ofsted for longer than 3 months you are not eligible for a grant. This rule will be strictly upheld.

  • If you are eligible, you might receive £1000 for childminders who care for children with " SEND " and for new Childminder Agencies (CMA’s)
  • A universal award of £300 for childminders across England plus a £200 supplement for being within Cheshire East. This is due to challenges around disadvantage and/or rurality in this area
