Activities at Congleton and Holmes Chapel Children's Centre

Links to book places along with dates and times are available by visiting Congleton Children's Centre Facebook page. If you experience issues accessing EventBrite or you do not have access to Facebook, please contact the admin staff at Children’s Centre on 01260 371 061 who will be able to assist.

If further information is needed for your booking, a member of the children centre will contact you. If your booking is successful you will receive an email immediately confirming your place.

We have limited availability across all of our sessions to ensure that we are able to provide a high quality learning experience, therefore, as a result, places do get booked quite quickly. We operate a waiting list, therefore, if you are no longer able to attend please contact the Children’s Centre as soon as possible so that we can allocate a place to somebody else.

In line with the health and safety of our service users and our staff, please do not attend any of our sessions if you or any of your booking are showing symptoms of COVID-19, or if you have had contact with anyone else with signs and symptoms of Covid-19 in the past 10 days, unless you are exempt you unfortunately will not be able to attend the activity.

For sessions held outside, please dress appropriately. Sessions will only be cancelled in extreme weather.

Buggy Walk

Join us on our free Buggy Walks at your local park with a member of your Children’s Centre team. You will be able to meet new friends and will have the opportunity to talk about things which are familiar to all at this stage of your child’s development. Walking with your baby has lots of advantages, as well as light exercise it gets both you and your baby out in the fresh air. This session is suitable for babies in a buggy or pram. Come rain or shine we will be walking, talking and making new friends.

Babies Together

Wednesday

1.15pm-2.45pm

at Congleton Children's Centre

For babies up to 18 months, this is a relaxed, fun and interactive session with lots of singing and play. You will gain new ideas for your baby as well as information on developmental milestones and ways for you to support your babies ongoing development. This is a weekly session.

Each week we will have different and exciting activities which we will make together.

Once a month, a health professional will be in attendance should you want to discuss anything particular about your child’s development.

Toddlers Together

If your child is aged between 18 months and 2 ½ years, please join us for our Toddler’s Together session where you and your child will have the opportunity to sing, create, play and talk with a member of your local Children’s Centre. Once a month, a health professional will be in attendance should you want to discuss anything particular about your child’s development.

On this session you will find a lot of helpful information on when to introduce your baby to solid foods and tips to make it easier, and what baby-led weaning is. Introducing your baby to their first foods is an important time in your baby’s life and can be lots of fun.

We also operate a Virtual Weaning session delivered by Health Professionals and Family Service Workers. This session is open for online booking. Please visit Congleton Children's Centre Facebook for more information on how to book a place.  

We will confirm your booking by email with the link to virtual meeting via MS TEAMS. 

Sessions will be available monthly.

Cherubs

Monday

10am-11.30am

at Congleton Children's Centre

Helping breastfeeding mums, with support and information as soon as mum and baby are discharged from hospital. For advice and guidance about Cherubs, please follow them on Facebook ‘Cherubs of Cheshire – CHEshire Really Useful Breastfeeding Support’.

Baby massage

 

 

Baby massage is a lovely way to enjoy time with your baby and it can also help you bond together.   

Baby Massage is a 5-week course where our trained Family Service Workers will demonstrate a variety of soothing holds and rhythmic strokes. These can help your baby to feel securely attached, reduce crying and can help with discomforts such as colic.

 Smile

Wednesday

SMILE sessions cover understanding perinatal mental illness, learning new coping strategies, ways to wellbeing, self-care, improving self-esteem and strengthening resilience.

Sensory Experience 

 Every Day

Sessions are limited and are suitable for babies under 1 and children with additional needs to enjoy our sensory equipment and resources in a quiet relaxing environment. These sessions are not led by our staff, but we are on hand if you have any questions. If you would like to book a session in our sensory room, please email Congleton Children’s Centre or call 01260 371 061. 

Our Children’s Library

 Every Day

Email or call to book a timed slot to use our loaning library which has lots of baby books and story sacks for your baby. 

Bookstart Corner

 

This evidence based 4-week course is 1 to 1 home based and focusses on making rhymes, sharing books, stories and mark making part of the family’s daily routines

The programme is intended to be carried out with children who are possibly at risk of speech delay.

Please speak to a professional regarding a referral.

Play Can Make a Difference

This course promotes parent and child interactions to develop children’s communication skills.  This is done through different play activities with lots of messy play.
