Get Online Week, 14 - 20 October 2019
On Wednesday 16 October at 10.00-11.30am we are offering a free introduction to the Learn My Way courses. These cover everything from getting online and computer basics, to email, shopping, staying safe online and much more!
Macmillan support desk
The Macmillan volunteers will be available for advice and information on all aspects of living with cancer on Tuesday 22 October between 10.00 and 12.00 noon.
Our big book sale starts on Saturday 26 October. Come and find a bargain - or two!
Health and Wellbeing Fair
Come and meet us at the fair in the Civic Hall on Saturday 26 October between 9.00 and 12.00 noon. The library will be open as normal, 9.00-1.00pm.
Meet the police
On Monday 28 October come and meet our local PCSO. You can sit in a police car, have your fingerprints taken, and try on a uniform. Just call in between 10.00 and 12.00 noon.
On Wednesday 30 October at 10.30-11.30am we have halloween crafts for children. £2.50 per child; please book in advance. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Fancy dress welcome!
Poetry and coffee morning
Join us on Friday 15 November at 10.00-11.30am, for poetry with former Cheshire Poet Laureate, Joy Winkler. Joy will be reading from her latest collection, Wings, Planes and Weather Vanes. Enjoy a coffee and biscuits, and listen in relaxing surroundings. Copies of Joy’s book will be on sale.
On Tuesday 19 November at 7.30pm, hear Jonathan Swinton, author of Alan Turing's Manchester. Explore the complexity of the city that Alan Turing encountered in 1948, travelling through a richly illustrated account of lives lived - and one life ended tragically early. Tickets £2.50; includes a glass of wine or a soft drink on arrival. Copies of Jonathan’s book will be available to buy. Please book in advance at the library. Doors open at 7.00pm.
Ancestry taster sessions
The cost is £3.50 for an hour long one to one session. Please contact the library for details and to book a session.
Computer Buddy sessions
Basic computer skills sessions with an IT buddy are now available at the library at £2.50 per hour. This entitles you to an hour's free use of the computers after your tutored session to practice what you have learned. Please contact the library for more details.

- Book Chat - 2.00-3.00pm - monthly on second Tuesday of each month. All welcome to our informal free book group, where we chat over a cup of tea or coffee. No need to book
- Rhymetime - 2.00-2.30pm - weekly. Children must be accompanied by an adult
- LEGO Club - 3.30-4.45pm - monthly, on first Thursday of each month. Free; no need to book. Suitable for children aged 4 years and over. Duplo available for younger siblings
