Local and Community History Week
On Saturday 26 May at 10.00-12.00 noon join us in the junior library for Poynton Mining Memories. Hear reminiscences of the people of Poynton recorded over 30 years ago. All ages welcome. Ideal for grandparents and grandchildren. Free event; no need to book.
Summer Reading Challenge volunteers
We are looking for volunteers aged 13 or over, who love books, reading, and talking to people, to help administer the children's summer reading challenge. You would be registering children for the challenge and chatting to the children and parents about the challenge, and giving out stickers and rewards. Contact us to find out more. Applications close on 26 May. There will be a short informal interview, and an induction session in June.

National Bookstart Week
Join us on Monday 4 June at 10.30am for a story and rhymetime based on the Ten Little Toes picture book. All pre-school and reception age children and their parents and carers welcome.
On Monday 4 June at 2.00-3.30pm we have a Magic and Wizardry themed LEGO Club. £1.00 per child. Please book in advance.
Meet the police
Come and meet our neighbourhood Police Community Support Officers on Tuesday 5 June. Sit in a police car, try on a uniform, and have your fingerprints taken. Free; just pop in between 10.30 and 12.00 noon.
Mr Bookstart Bear rhymetime
On Thursday 14 June at 10.30am big blue Mr Bookstart Bear will be our special guest for rhymetime. All babies and toddlers welcome with their parents or carers.
Paint a rock
Come and paint a rock on Thursday 14 June at 3.30pm. Photograph your painted rock and post it on Facebook, then hide it for someone else to find. £1.00 per person. Please book in advance.
Festival of Learning Week, 18-23 June
On Tuesday 19 June at 3.30-4.30pm join Lisa Lowe, Community Engagement Officer from ANSA. Lisa will be using games and interaction to provide tips on reusing and recycling, how to reduce food waste, and composting at this great family event.
On Saturday 23 June at 10.30am join us for a family read and rhyme session, with the Bookstart Bird Boogie story and crafts. All young children and their parents/carers welcome.
Ancestry taster sessions
The cost is £3.00 for an hour long one to one session. Please contact the library for details and to book a session.
Computer Buddy sessions
Basic computer skills sessions with an IT buddy are now available at the library at £2.50 per hour. This entitles you to an hour's free use of the computers after your tutored session to practice what you have learned. Please contact the library for more details.

- Book Chat - 2.00-3.00pm - monthly on second Tuesday of each month. All welcome to our informal book group, where we chat over a cup of tea or coffee. Next date is 12 June on the theme of Classics of the Future - discussing what makes a classic and which current books and authors might become classics
- LEGO Club - 3.30-4.45pm - monthly, on first Thursday of each month. Free; no need to book. Suitable for children aged 4 years and over. Duplo available for younger siblings. Please note, there will be no LEGO Club on 7 June
- Rhymetime - 10.30-11am - weekly. Children must be accompanied by a parent or carer
