Crewe Library now open

Crewe Library opened on Monday 6 July with restricted opening hours and Covid-19 secure measures in place to make the library as safe as possible.

You will be able to return, renew, browse and borrow books, audio books and DVDs. Our friendly staff will be here to help you. Our public computers and Council Customer Service enquiries service will be available, but must be booked in advance.

The Civic Centre car park is short stay Pay and Display. There are other long stay Pay and Display car parks are available nearby in Oak Street and there is also free parking available in Thomas Street (just 5 minutes walk away).

What's New?

Work Hub at Crewe Library

From 28 July, the Springboard Work Hub is offering an appointment based service on Tuesdays. There are 30 minute appointments available between 9.30am and 11.45am. You can book an appointment via the Springboard website, or you can email cath@springboard.me.uk or lynne@springboard.me.uk or call Cath Barton on  07588 724 932 or Lynne Singleton on 07580 722 042.

You can choose a face to face, telephone or Zoom appointment, and the careers advisors are able to support you with:

Silly Squad - the digital Summer Reading Challenge 2020

Cheshire East Libraries are excited to be taking part in this year’s all-new digital Summer Reading Challenge, the biggest children’s reading for pleasure programme in the UK, delivered by The Reading Agency in partnership with public libraries, publishers and schools.

The theme this year is ‘Silly Squad’ so families can have fun and children can read anything that makes them happy. The Silly Squad is a team of animal friends who love to go on adventures and get stuck into all kinds of funny books. Children can sign up and take part for free. They can read any books this year, not just library books, although you can borrow from our e-book collection and e-audiobook collection, and we even have Dinosaurs, Horrible Histories and the Beano as e-magazines. It's free to join the library online if your child is not already a member.

There are games, quizzes and other activities to encourage them to complete the challenge on the Reading Agency's Facebook page. Plus, look out for our special library Facebook posts at 2.30pm on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The Challenge will run throughout the summer until September. So, let's get silly this summer!
