Congleton and the Battle of Mons
On Tuesday 29 May at 2.30-3.30pm we are hosting a free illustrated talk about the role of The Cheshires; including the cavalry charge at Audregnies, Prisoners of War, and the significance of the retreat. Free event; no need to book in advance.
Join us on Friday 1 June at 10.30 for an hour of children's crafts. £1.00 per child. Suitable for ages 3-10 years. Please book as places are limited.
National Bookstart Week, 4-9 June
On Thursday 7 June at 10.30-11.00am we have a Bird Boogie rhymetime for pre-school children with special guest, Mr Bookstart Bear. 50p per ticket; please book in advance.
On Saturday 9 June at 10.00-12.00 noon we have a free drop-in Bird Boogie craft session.
Join us on Thursday 14 June at 2.00-3.00pm for a relaxing afternoon with lots of tasty treats for anyone living with dementia and their friends and family.
Micro:bit taster sessions
Want to learn about coding? On Monday 18 June a member of staff will help you get started with the basics, using a fun and simple BBC micro:bit. All ages welcome; keyboard and mouse skills required. Free event for Festival of Learning Week; just drop in between 4.00 and 6.00pm.
On Saturday 23 June at 10.00-11.00am we have a free Festival of Learning Week children's storytime and creative writing event. Meet writer, Jaris Ash, and Cassidy the Dog. Enjoy a story about Cassidy and friends, then have a go at writing your own! Bring along a notepad and pen.
We have IT Buddies available to offer 1:1 computer and Ancestry lessons most days of the week, for only £2.50. Please contact the library for more information and to book.

Congleton and District Horticultural Society
The group meets in the library on the last Wednesday of the month at 7.30-9.30pm. Bringing together people who enjoy any aspect of horticulture; be it gardening, growing to show, listening to talks, visiting gardens and much more. Congleton History Society
The group meets in the library on the second Wednesday of the month at 7.30-9.00pm, from September to May. Meetings typically feature talks by members or visiting speakers. We aim to encourage research and interest in local history and historical subjects in general. Visitors are welcome. £3.00 per meeting, or become a member for just £8.00 per year. There is a representative from Macmillan in the library every fortnight on a Wednesday. Drop in between 10.00am and 12.00 noon for advice on treatments, benefits, support groups and more. Contact the library for dates.
