What's new?

LEGO play day

On Thursday 26 July we have a drop-in LEGO session. Stay as long as you like between 10.00am and 4.00pm!

No bake treats

On Wednesday 1 August at 2.15-3.15pm make edible treats without the use of an oven. Suitable for children aged 5 and over. £2.50 per ticket. Places are limited. Please inform us of any allergies at time of booking. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

3D pens taster session

Join us on Tuesday 7 August and have a go at using a 3D pen. Free event in partnership with Derby University. Drop in between 10.00am and 4.00pm. Suitable for children aged 7 and over. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Cops and robbers

On Tuesday 14 August at 10.30-11.30am the local PCSO, Hannah Jackson, will be visiting us. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

LEGO stop motion animation

On Thursday 16 August at 10.00-12.00 noon create your own animated film using LEGO characters. £1.00 per ticket; please book as places are limited. Suitable for children aged 6 and over. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Junk modelling

Join us on Saturday 18 August between 9.30am and 12.30pm and create art from junk. £1.00 per child. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Papier Mache bowls

On Friday 24 August make a bowl from papier mache. Drop in between 2.00 and 4.00pm. £2.50 per child. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Fun Science workshop

On Thursday 30 August at 10.00-11.00am we have a messy hands-on workshop with Fun Science. £4.00 per child; please book as places are limited. Suitable for children aged 4 and over. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

IT Buddy sessions

Our IT Buddy is available for one-to-one sessions to help with basic computer skills. Sessions must be booked in advance and there is a £2.50 charge. Please contact the library for more information.

  • Ancestry and Find my Past online family history basics. £3.50 per hour. One-to-one sessions available. Please book in advance
  • Story and tea for adults - 2.00-3.00pm - monthly on first Thursday of each month. Join us for reading and refreshments, and share your love of books. Very informal. No charge, and all adults welcome. Next date is 2 August

Local author, Nik Perring, leads the library writing group on Tuesday evenings. The group meets weekly at 5.30-7.00pm. New members are always welcome. There is a charge per session. Please contact the library for further details.
