Libraries during lockdown
We hope you've been enjoying our activities for adults and children on Facebook and using our online services during lockdown. Take a look at our short #LibrariesFromHome video to see what we've been up to since March.
Silly Squad - the digital Summer Reading Challenge 2020
Cheshire East Libraries are excited to be taking part in this year’s all-new digital Summer Reading Challenge, the biggest children’s reading for pleasure programme in the UK, delivered by The Reading Agency in partnership with public libraries, publishers and schools.
The theme this year is ‘Silly Squad’ so families can have fun and children can read anything that makes them happy. The Silly Squad is a team of animal friends who love to go on adventures and get stuck into all kinds of funny books. Children can sign up and take part for free. They can read any books this year, not just library books, although you can borrow from our e-book collection and e-audiobook collection, and we even have Dinosaurs, Horrible Histories and the Beano as e-magazines. It's free to join the library online if your child is not already a member.
There are games, quizzes and other activities to encourage them to complete the challenge on the Reading Agency's Facebook page. Plus, look out for our special library Facebook posts at 2.30pm on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The Challenge will run throughout the summer until September. So, let's get silly this summer!
