Dog Behaviour Clinic with Vic Barlow, the Dogfather

Many owners of otherwise obedient dogs have trouble maintaining behaviour on walks. Dogs that will come when called in the garden often go deaf when they meet other dogs. Walking quietly to heel is often a problem in a more distracting outdoor environment.

During this short outdoor behaviour class, at Tegg’s Nose Country Park, Vic will demonstrate, in a more natural environment, how to transfer good obedience work into the real world and also essential techniques for dealing with livestock encountered during walks in the countryside.

Following this free session there is the option of a short paid ‘one to one’ training session with Vic (Cost £10 - any funds raised will be donated to Animal Support Volunteers).

Booking in advance is essential. Please email Vic Barlow to also book a ‘one to one’ session.

Boggy Doodles: A beginner's guide to Green Sketching

Fancy a restorative, confidence-boosting day outdoors, surrounded by the stunning scenery at Tegg's Nose Country Park? Then why not join us for a one day course in Green Sketching that will help you learn how to see the colour and wonder of nature with fresh eyes. Green Sketching is a new confidence-boosting approach to sketching nature outdoors that's focused on joy-spotting and mindful observation. It's an enjoyable and effective way to relax, de-stress and calm an anxious, information-overloaded mind.

We'll begin the course with an introduction to Green Sketching that will explain the benefits of reconnecting with nature and reassure anyone feeling nervous about their sketching skills (hint: no one has to share their sketches!). We'll then explore a range of different sketching exercises that will help you slow down and improve your confidence and observational skills. After lunch, when you can either bring a packed lunch or buy a delicious lunch in the Teggs Nose Tea Room, we'll learn about colour in nature and experiment with different ways to add colour to our sketches.

By the end of the course, you'll be noticing sources of joy you never had in your life and you'll have the confidence and motivation to continue Green Sketching by yourself. All welcome -- the course is suitable for all ages and requires no artistic 'talent', specialist nature knowledge or outdoorsy expertise. Please note places are limited to ensure we have a small and friendly group.

Booking and payment in advance is essential. Cost £60 (children aged up to 14 years old free when accompanied by an adult). All equipment provided.
