Congleton leisure offer
Cheshire East maintain a number of leisure, health and well being services. Congleton leisure centre was built in 1976 and is an example of an ageing asset which costs the council to maintain. The Councils aim is to improve the quality of its wellbeing services for the residents of Congleton and to do this some of the current facilities need updating and improving.
We aim to redevelop the existing leisure centre, optimising the useable space in the site in line with planning and statutory bodies such as Sport England.
We are looking to provide a brand new pool and wet side offer with as a minimum a redeveloped dry side offer with improved fitness suites and studio space. We also want to provide elements of a Lifestyle offer through complementary and supplementary services for improved health and wellbeing activities at the redeveloped centre. We are keen to improve the links with the park and surrounding area and are committed to keeping the playing pitch on site.
Keeping local residents and businesses informed
The Council will be providing regular press releases as the project develops as well as regularly updating the Congleton Leisure webpage. We can also be contacted by email firstname.lastname@example.org
Accessibility for people with a disability
All new buildings developed by Cheshire East aim to be ‘all inclusive’. There will be full disabled access to all services provided.
Opening of any new leisure facility
If the new leisure Centre redevelopment is approved, it could be available (subject to planning approval and design) in Spring 2019. But, the projection team will look how we can maintain some form of leisure offer from the site during the redevelopment working with the appointed development partner. This will be subject to strict Health and Safety guidance and policy for all users.
