A54 Buxton Road – Berry Bank Retaining Wall

During the evening of 16 September 2020, there was an embankment failure resulting in a partial carriageway collapse along a section of the A54 Buxton Road.  This lead to an emergency road closure of the section of Buxton RA54 Buxton Road - retaining walload from between north of Blaze Farm and South of Crag Hall Lane.

What is happening

Following works to stabilise and rebuild the foundations, we are now rebuilding the retaining wall which collapsed. Following the rebuild, we will then safely be able to build the carriageway back up and resurface the road. Works on the damaged section, following an RTC commenced w/c 28 September and the road is due to re-open under temporary traffic lights on the 16 October.
