Council Tax SMS/TEXT messages
We are currently sending SMS/text messages to a number of residents in order to confirm the contact information we hold is correct.
If you receive a SMS/text from CECouncil, followed by a SMS/text from a separate number ending in 188, these are genuine messages from the council to verify your contact information relating to council tax.
These messages are being sent to residents who previously supplied their mobile phone number during contact with our customer service teams. These messages will be sent to those who have not already confirmed their details.
Once phone numbers have been validated, we intend to use text messages as a means of contacting residents with important information about their council tax. Text messaging is a cheaper and often more convenient way of getting in touch with residents and is used by a growing number of Government and private sector organisations to send brief advice messages to customers.
