Cheshire East a place vision

In 2028 Cheshire East will be nationally recognised for having:

  • capitalised on the arrival of HS2 as a catalyst for growth in Cheshire East and the wider sub-region
  • delivered continuous improvements in productivity in the private and public sectors, led by the performance of world class businesses and a rich research and development infrastructure
  • maintained the quality of its countryside, villages and market towns and regenerated its urban areas, reflecting their distinct assets and character
  • homes for an increasing number of families and young people
  • enabled strong communities to improve their health and wellbeing, reducing health inequalities and enabling people to live longer, healthier lives in or near their own homes
  • a strong visitor economy as an area with a rich heritage, a place of places where town meets country

In order to achieve this we will:

  • do more to maximise the benefits of our strategic location between the Northern Powerhouse  and the Midlands Engine and our proximity to Merseyside and Wales
  • ensure that Cheshire East is a location of choice to start, grow or locate a business
  • inspire young people to study STEM subjects and pursue careers in our world class innovative businesses
  • do everything we can to meet the housing needs and aspirations of all residents
  • ensure that every child and young person has access to excellent education and training
  • empower our communities to become more resilient and neighbourly
  • build on the success of our integrated health and care teams
  • revitalise our urban centres in a way that exploits their unique assets
  • cherish our villages, market towns and countryside
  • implement innovative approaches to improving connectivity within the borough
