Audit and Governance committee – Co-optee recruitment

We are looking for two Cheshire East residents with practical experience in financial management/accountancy to sit on our audit and governance committee as co-opted independent members.

The committee provides an independent and high-level focus on the council’s audit, assurance and reporting arrangements.  It provides an independent review of the council’s governance, risk management and control frameworks, and oversees the financial reporting and annual governance processes.  The committee develops, maintains and monitors the codes of conduct for councillors and co-opted members.

Previous experience of working with audit committees may be helpful but is not essential.

We seek to reflect and represent all of the borough’s residents and we welcome applications from all parts of the Cheshire East community.

Whilst the co-opted independent members are not employees or members of the council, the successful applicants will receive specific training to enable them to undertake their new role effectively.

The independent members are entitled to be reimbursed for expenses but do not receive any allowance or remuneration.
