Exciting future plans submitted for Congleton Leisure Centre

16 January 2019

Cheshire East Council has submitted a planning application for major improvements at Congleton Leisure Centre.

The plans, which outline how the facilities could look when the work is completed, consist of a new six-lane swimming pool, new learner pool, community meeting spaces, a soft play area with access to a café and a state-of-the art gym with facilities over two floors.

Councillor Liz Wardlaw, deputy leader of Cheshire East Council and cabinet member for health, said: “I’m pleased we are moving forward with our plans for Congleton’s leisure centre. The current facilities are not fit for purpose and I hope that people will share my excitement in the new proposals that have been submitted to planning.

“Not only do they provide Congleton with state-of-the art facilities, they also improve the current leisure offer and include a multifunctional space where communities can come together.

“I encourage anyone with an interest in the plans for the leisure centre to come along to the drop-in sessions to find out more.”

The planning proposals drop-in events are scheduled to be held at Congleton Leisure Centre on:Tuesday 22 January, 6pm-8pm;Thursday 24 January, 6pm-8pm;Saturday 26 January, 9:30am-11:30am;Tuesday 29 January 9:30am to noon; and Wednesday 30 January, 9:30am-noon.
