Local Covid testing sites

11 June 2021

Cheshire East Council has issued a statement about Covid local testing sites in the borough.

Dr Matt Tyrer, Director of Public Health for Cheshire East Council, said: “Testing without an appointment is being made available at the local testing sites at Crewe and Macclesfield, coordinated by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and run by Sodexo.

“However, we are sorry to hear that some people have had difficulty accessing walk-up testing yesterday. The Macclesfield and Crewe sites have seen large numbers of people attend yesterday for testing, which is great news, but the volume of visitors did cause some logistical issues at times.

“We are currently working at pace with partners to put in place a number of new solutions to help us in our fight against rising infections. We are working with our partners to sort this out as a matter of urgency, including increasing on-site personnel.

“Testing is a very important part of our outbreak management approach and we want to make it as easy as possible for people to access testing at this critical time. We hope to have the situation resolved by the time the facilities are open today.

“I would like to thank everyone who turned up to do their bit and ask everyone to be patient when attending at busy times. Please remember to take a mobile phone with you and or a form of photo ID.”
