Council supports fostering campaign to find Cheshire’s most welcoming front door
18 November 2019
Cheshire East Council is supporting the search to find the region’s most welcoming front door as part of a new campaign to recruit more foster carers.
Foster4, Cheshire’s shared local authority foster carer recruitment service, has launched a competition called ‘Could you open your door?’ which aims to encourage local people to think about opening their doors to local children by becoming foster carers. A digital advertisement has also been produced to promote both the campaign and competition.
Residents and businesses from across Cheshire are encouraged to get involved by uploading photos of their front doors to the Foster4 Facebook page or via Instagram using #welcomingfrontdoorsofcheshire
The competition will see one lucky winner being crowned as having Cheshire’s most welcoming front door, who will also receive a £500 B&Q voucher, donated by local organisation, WeeeCharity.
The competition will be open for entries from Monday 18 November until Friday 3 January, with the winner chosen by a panel of children in care and announced on Tuesday 7 January.
Mark Palethorpe, acting executive director of people at Cheshire East Council said: “We are delighted to support this campaign. We already have an amazing community of over 150 families who foster and who come from all walks of life and all areas of our borough.
“Fostering really is an incredible, flexible, home-based role that really makes a difference to the lives of local children and young people in our community. If you’re great with children and young people, have a spare bedroom, and want to make a real difference to young lives, we’d love to hear from you.”
