The Bright Idea Fund
Please note that all processing for the Bright Idea Fund is currently suspended due to the COVID-19 situation. This includes any applications submitted to us from March onwards. We will update this webpage as soon as possible regarding the future reinstatement of the Bright Idea Fund.
A time-limited fund, Covid-19 Community Response and Recovery Grant, has been developed by the council to support local organisations through this pandemic.
If you or your voluntary or community group is looking for funding for community activity, then we may be able to offer the financial assistance you require. Using an asset based community development approach to community grants, the Council is looking to support projects, which will improve the quality of life for local communities.
We operate a community grant scheme within the boundaries of Cheshire East. We believe that a vibrant voluntary, community and faith sector is vital to our communities. Funding awarded to local people and the voluntary, community and faith sector can generate a significant amount of community activity and positive impact.
The aim of the grant scheme is to support not for profit organisations and to inspire local people through social innovation to develop or enhance local projects that will improve the quality of life for local communities.
Two categories for funding have been developed to meet the changing needs of our communities. Both categories aim to achieve the same outcomes from grants awarded. For full information, please see What the Bright Idea Grants Can Fund
My Bright Idea Grants – up to a maximum award of £250. Provides an opportunity for local residents of Cheshire East who wish to share their skills, interest and passions through volunteering to promote or deliver projects or events that will improve the health and wellbeing of their community.
Our Community Bright Idea Grants – up to a maximum award of £10,000. Supports the continuation and development of not-for-profit organisations and local projects that are created with the local community.
Applications should be completed in conjunction with the Policy for the Allocation of Early Help and Asset Based Community Development Grants (PDF, 373KB) and the application guidance notes within the form.
