Community Grants

Cheshire East Council is developing opportunities for the Voluntary, Community, Faith, Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector to apply for grant funding over the coming weeks to enable projects to start from 1 April 2023. Through utilising external sources of funding, grants will be available to organisations able to implement projects which support outcomes linked to the following themes:

Health and Wellbeing Fund

Cheshire East Council are working in partnership with Central Cheshire Integrated Care Board and Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust to provide grants that will support the Voluntary, Community, Faith, Social Enterprise sector to deliver projects supporting better health and wellbeing outcomes.

The aims of the fund are to:

  • Reduce health inequalities by addressing a specific gap in provision or where there is an identified need.
  • Improve access to local health and care services including clear linkages with respective care communities.
  • develop Voluntary, Community, Faith, Social Enterprise sector led community mental health services specifically for people who have serious long term mental health issues in the community.

How much is available

Mental Health support and interventions (£66,516) - This funding stream will focus on improving the mental health of the population. Proposals should complement local provision (formal and informal support and services) and work with local services to direct to more specialist support where appropriate.

Community Mental Health Transformation (£200,000) - This place-based funding is to support Cheshire East to be able to support people with Severe Mental Illness (SMI).

Working alongside NHS and local authority services, community organisations provide unique support for people experiencing mental health challenges. They establish a connected community of people with shared experiences, get to know the people and develop trusting professional relationships.

This funding should be used to help us collectively accelerate the vital contribution of community partners in our journey of transforming our community mental health offer, supporting more people to access services.

Physical Health and Wellbeing Grants (£103,733) - this funding stream will support the priority areas defined for each Care Community in the supporting guidance document. Proposals should complement local provision (formal and informal support and services) and work with local services to direct to more specialist support where appropriate.

Community Grant to support those with Visual Impairments (£10,800) - This funding stream will support those living with visual impairments by providing practical advice to support independent living and delivering emotion and peer support to enable people to share lived experience and provide information and advice.Note: this funding is available for two years (1/4/23 to 31/3/25).
