Crewe Market Hall project update
Since launching the Crewe Market Hall project in June, we’re pleased to have received more than 40 expressions of interest from potential traders from across Cheshire and beyond, and with a fantastic mix of proposals. But we’re still inviting even more to come forward and be part of this exciting redevelopment, which forms a key part of our regeneration plans for Crewe town centre.
You can visit the Crewe Market Hall redevelopment page to complete an online form to submit an expression of interest.
Building works at the Market Hall have been progressing well and all the old market stall units - which lined both the sides and middle of the building – have now been stripped out. We’ve also put up some eye-catching hoardings around the front of the building, which help to illustrate its important heritage and look ahead to its exciting future.
Last month, we also launched a procurement exercise to find a new operator that shares our vision for Crewe’s markets and the role they will play in the town centre’s wider regeneration. The deadline for tenders is 30 August and we hope to have selected and contracted an operator by the end of November.
It will be the operator’s role to ensure that the markets are well promoted – drawing in customers and spreading the word about everything that is on offer. They will also work with market traders to help them make the most of the town’s busy events programme.
We will continue to keep potential traders, residents, businesses and other key stakeholders updated as the project progresses, before handing over to the new markets operator.
