Cheshire Science Corridor Enterprise Zone rates discounts
Central government introduced enterprise zones to stimulate business growth in particular areas. Incentives to attract businesses include discounts on business rates.
The Cheshire Science Corridor Enterprise Zone has sites at Alderley Park, Birchwood, Warrington and Ellesmere Port (including Thornton Science Park).
To get a discount, your business must be either science-based or supporting the wider science-based industry supply chain and you must enter the zone between 01 April 2016 and 31 March 2021. You must also be able to show the business is capable of growing one or more of the following by at least 20% over five years:
- size of premises occupied
- jobs provided
Enterprise zone discounts are discretionary, which means you aren't guaranteed to get one even if you meet the conditions.
Discount you can get in the Science Corridor Enterprise Zone
Discounts can be up 100%. There is a maximum discount of £55,000 per year and £275,000 over a five year period.
How to apply for Science Corridor rates discounts
