Filming in Cheshire East

Creative England should be your first point of contact for all filming related enquiries in Cheshire East.

Once you have discussed your initial requirements, Creative England will liaise with Cheshire East departments on your behalf to efficiently progress your request.

You are required to obtain a ‘location agreement’ from us if you wish to film in any public area in the borough. This ensures you will not be moved on by other teams within the council or the police during your visit as all staff recognise the agreement which is produced by our in-house legal team.

All that is required to request a location agreement is the dates and locations of the planned filming, a contact name, address and your insurance details.

We offer

  • consultation and supervision for filming on public property
  • liaison with all council departments for location filming
  • assistance with location scouting
  • good local knowledge of the area
  • an awareness of private locations available for filming

Unfortunately we can’t offer permission to film in privately owned locations, those owned by other public bodies or in personal dwellings but in most cases we can help identify the best contact.

Cheshire East Council has signed a 'film friendly' charter in conjunction with the three other local authorities in Cheshire giving a strong collective commitment to promoting filming in the region. This was facilitated by Creative England.
