Coronavirus Local Discretionary Grant Scheme
The Local Discretionary Grant Scheme is an additional fund to the Small Business Grant Fund and the Retail, Leisure and Hospitality Grant Fund.
The local discretionary grant is aimed at small businesses who
- are not eligible for other funds such as the Small Business Grant and the Retail, Leisure and Hospitality fund
- have relatively high ongoing property costs
- have suffered a significant fall in income due to the COVID-19 crisis.
We have limited, fixed funding of just £4,287,250 from the Government for this scheme. This means that - as much as the Council would wish to - we are not able to provide a grant to every eligible business and charity that applies.
We committed most of this funding in Phase one and two of this scheme, but a third phase is now opening to allow some widening of the eligibility criteria. Any Phase 3 grant awards are subject to sufficient funds remaining.
Applications for Phase 3 opened at 8am on 7 August and closed at 8am on 17 August 2020.
Applications received in Phase 3 are now being assessed and determined. Decision notices will be sent to all applicants as soon as possible.
All our staff are currently busy working on validating and appraising grant applications. Unfortunately we are therefore unable to respond to telephone and email queries about the discretionary grant scheme during this time.
