Cheshire East is a diverse, dynamic and internationally recognised centre of excellence in food and drink production with over 6,500 staff and a GVA of £128 million, it is part of one of the UK’s most important regions for food and drink.

The industry in Cheshire East encompasses a number of diverse companies from large scale food manufacturers and animal feed businesses, to dairy operators and small scale operations.

Cheshire East is home to some of the industry’s most successful companies including: Morning Foods Ltd, Bakkavor (New Primebake), Fayrefield Foods Ltd, Joseph Helers Ltd, and Wrights Pies.

Food Centre, Reaseheath College

Reaseheath College invested £7.4m in a state of the art food processing facility, where trials and development work can take place. This comprises a small scale commercial dairy, deemed to be leading edge within Europe, a butchery facility capable of teaching from “farm to fork”, a commercial bakery, and innovation rooms for NPD and scale up work.

The resources offered include:

  • homogenisers
  • evaporators
  • UHT plant
  • Ost Vat
  • Deck and steam ovens
  • Proving ovens
  • Laminators

The Centre offers support in product development, from concept to launch and beyond including:

  • trial work
  • bespoke courses (e.g. milk processing, knife skills, yoghurt making and bread making etc.)
  • mandatory training
