The Mayor's Charity
Each Mayor chooses charities to support during his or her
year in office.
Councillor Margaret Simon is raising money for two charities in
her year of office: Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and the Duchenne
Muscular Dystrophy Campaign. Two very deserving causes.
Hearing Dogs for Deaf People
Hearing Dogs for Deaf People was launched at the world famous
Crufts Dog Show in 1982. Since then they have continued to
train dogs to alert deaf people to specific sounds, whether in the
home, workplace or public buildings.
To date they have placed more than 1,500 hearing dogs throughout
England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel
Islands.

website.
Action Duchenne
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is
a devastating muscle wasting disease that leads to paralysis and
early death. Action Duchenne is the only UK
charity that exclusively funds and fights on behalf of families
living with Duchenne. The charity funds research into Stem Cells,
Exon Skipping, steroids and many other Duchenne related
therapies.
