Detailed Waste Analysis
In 1999 and 2000 waste from household waste deposited
at both the Household Waste and Recycling
Centres (HWRC) and the kerbside was analysed. This
exercise was repeated in May 2008 and February 2009.
The aim of the analysis was to find out what type of
waste was being deposited at the Centres and kerbside and in what
quantities. This information allows the authorities to
determine what additional recycling facilities need to be placed on
the sites in order to meet Government targets on recycling. The
exercise also provided baseline data about waste arisings.
All the reports are
available for download in PDF format.
Please note: Any
waste collected could not be attributed to that household
because it was bulked together with the waste of over 25
other properties. It is therefore impossible to
identify the waste composition of any individual property.
