Closed Landfill Sites
Closed landfill sites are landfill sites that have come to the
end of their useful life and are full.
The Council has a responsibility for maintaining 6 closed
landfill sites to enusre that they remain stable and regular
monitoring is undertaken. Old landfill sites can be restored to
form useful recreational land.
The six closed landfill sites are: Brownlow Quarry
(Congleton), Hassall Road (Alsager), Newgate (Wilmslow), Pyms Lane
(Crewe), Croxton Lane (Middlewich) and Lowerhouse (Bollington).
There are other closed landfill sites within Cheshire East that
are not the responsibility of Cheshire East Council.
