Closed Landfill Sites
Closed landfill sites are landfill sites that have come to the
end of their useful life and are full.
The Council has a responsibility to ensure that closed landfill
sites remain stable and so regular monitoring is undertaken. Old
landfill sites can be restored to form useful recreational
land.
There are six closed landfill sites in Cheshire East: Brownlow
Quarry (Congleton), Hassall Road (Alsager), Newgate (Wilmslow),
Pyms Lane (Crewe), Croxton Lane (Middlewich) and Lowerhouse
(Bollington).
