Concessionary Fares - Older Persons & Disabled Passes

Concessionary Travel Scheme 1st April 2013 - 31st March 2014 for eligible older and disabled people.

Cheshire East will offer the concessions listed below for the financial year 2013/2014 to eligible permanent residents of the borough.

Concessionary Bus Pass AdvertCheshire East Bus Pass Renewals

If your bus pass is due to expire you will receive a letter to your home address approximately 4 to 6 weeks before your pass is due to expire, the letter will contain details on how you can renew your pass, options will vary depending on the pass type and the existing information we hold.

If you have received a letter with a unique renewal code and are in possession of your current bus pass then the quickest way to renew is online.

How to renew your pass online (letter received with renewal code):

Go to the Bus Pass Renewal Website

  1. Click on the Renew Bus Pass link
  2. Make sure you have your renewal letter and current bus pass to hand. Click Start Renewal.
  3. Follow the instructions on screen and enter your renewal code, the last four digits of your bus pass and your email address. Once you have entered this information click on the Enter Details button.
  4. If your renewal has been successful you will now see a confirmation screen.

You can also renew by phone. Call 0300 123 5029 (local rate) open 10am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 4pm Saturday.

Disabled Bus Pass Renewals

If you have a disabled bus pass you will receive a letter 4 to 6 weeks before your pass expires. You will need to fill in the enclosed renewal form and send it back with supporting evidence or a GP declaration as detailed by the evidence sheet.

Incorrect Name or Date of Birth Details

When using the online renewal service, if you notice an error with your name and/or date of birth you need to call the renewal number above. The agent will take your details and arrange for you to be called back to verify your details (this process is only for correcting typing errors). In some cases you may need to visit an office to show proof of the change.

If your name change is due to marriage / divorce you will need to go in person to one of the offices listed below with evidence of the change (marriage / divorce certificate etc).

Address Changes

If you have moved home since your pass was issued you will need to update your details so we have the correct address to send the renewal letter and pass to.

Address changes can only be made in person at one of the offices listed below with a Council Tax, Utility bill etc as evidence of the change.

Lost or Damaged Cards

If you have lost your pass you will need to re-apply using the Replacement Bus Pass process.

To apply for a pass or railcard you need to provide:

  • One Proof of Residence i.e. Council Tax / Utility Bill, Bank Statement (must be no more than 3 months old)
  • One Proof of Age / Identity i.e. Passport, driving licence photocard, benefit book, birth certificate (If a married woman marriage certificate also required) Check your eligibility using the State Pension age calculator
  • For disabled persons - One proof of disability - acceptable forms of evidence are detailed on the evidence sheet (PDF, 96KB).
  • Bus passes - One Passport size and quality photograph - Must be recent (Within 5 years) and of passport quality showing a close up of applicant’s head and shoulders without a hat, facing forwards looking directly at the camera on a plain background (a new facility has been rolled out at all the offices listed below, which allows an advisor to take a photo for you, saving you the cost). 

Your bus pass will usually be valid for a maximum of 5 years. All bus passes will be issued by post direct to your home address usually within 21 working days.

Where to apply for your bus pass or railcard

Applications should be made in person at one of the council offices listed below, postal and online applications are not permitted.
