Welcome to the Cheshire East Local Transport Plan
All Local Transport Authorities are required to produce a new
Local Transport Plan (LTP) by March 2011. This will set out a
long-term strategy for travel and transport within the area for the
period 2011 to 2026.
The LTP considers everything: car based travel, walking,
cycling, freight, rail and public transport, as well as the
management and maintenance of local roads, road safety, and
accessibility initiatives including public transport.
We will be ‘joining up’ our plan making alongside the new Local
Development Framework and Community Strategy and sharing key
stakeholder engagement. By doing so, we intend to be able to better
integrate our land use and transport planning activities alongside
broader community aspirations.
Whether you drive a car, ride a motorcycle, catch the bus or
train, walk or cycle, the new LTP will affect you. We need your
views on how transport can contribute to delivering these

Transport Plan is available online, and can also be read
in libraries.
Consultation
The Local Transport Plan public consultation period is to begin
on 19th October 2010 for five weeks. The Local Transport
Plan Process Map (PDF, 804KB) shows the development process for
LTP 3.
Sustainability Appraisal/Health Impact Assessment
The Local Transport Plan Sustainability
Appraisal Scoping Report (PDF, 2.34MB) is to encourage
improved integration of sustainability considerations into the
preparation and adoption of transport plans and policies.
