Service Aims and Objectives
Service Delivery
Our core purpose is focused on contributing to the aims of
Cheshire East Council, which are to help the people of Cheshire
to:
- learn and develop throughout their lives;
- have jobs and a good standard of living;
- be safe, stay healthy and get help when they need it; and
- care for their communities and environment.
And to help achieve the Government's five transport objectives,
to:
- promote accessibility;
- improve safety;
- promote transport integration;
- contribute to an efficient economy; and
- protect the environment.
The Council's Local Transport Plan for
2006 to 2011 (published July 2006) includes a mix of mode and
area-based strategies and proposals developed to satisfy these
objectives. The resulting capital proposals are complemented by
routine highway maintenance and management activities funded via
the Council's annual revenue budget.
Organisational Management
As part of its "Best Value" culture, Cheshire East Council aims
to be a "well managed organisation". To contribute to this, we
will:
- continuously review and improve our processes;
- ensure our resources are correctly targeted;
- respond positively to changing needs and expectations;
- develop and maintain high standard ICT & business systems;
and
- provide staff with opportunities for training and personal
development.
Outcomes Sought
We aim to:
- improve the condition of Cheshire's highway
infrastructure;
- enhance road safety; and
- provide people with a balanced range of transport options.
