Traffic Regulation Orders
Traffic Regulation Orders are required to give legal effect to
signs that impose restrictions on traffic (such as parking
restrictions, one way streets and weight limits). They involve a
long and involved legal procedure that requires, for example, the
giving of public notice in local newspapers to ensure that the
local people affected are given the opportunity to object to the
proposals.
Before starting the procedure to introduce a Traffic Regulation
Order we consult the Town or Parish Council. Orders are made
following consideration by the appropriate Highways and
Transportation Local Joint Committee.
Please contact the Highways Service
for further information.
