Road Safety Courses

National Driver Alertness Course
 

The National Driver Alertness Course will replace the National Driver Improvement Scheme in Cheshire East from May 2011.

The National Driver Alertness Course is offered  to drivers who have had blameworthy crashes as an alternative to prosecution. The course lasts a day from 09.00 til 16.45 and takes place on various days throughout the week at the Driver Training Centre, Verdin Exchange, High Street, Winsford CW7 2BP. However, as the course is available nationally, drivers who have a crash in Cheshire East will be offered the opportunity to attend a course in their local area if they prefer.

The first part of the course is theory based and takes place in the centre. The second part takes place on-road and involves driving practice.

Speed Awareness Course

Speed Awareness Course photographThe Speed Awareness Course is a 4 hour 20 minute course offered to offenders who drive in excess of the speed limit as an alternative to the Fixed Penalty System of a fine and penalty points endorsed on their licence. The course is theory based and looks at the effects and dangers of speeding.  

Courses take place on various days throughout the week at the Driver Training Centre, Verdin Exchange, High Street, Winsford CW7 2BP. However. as the course is available nationally, drivers who commit a speeding offence in Cheshire East will be offered the opportunity to attend a course in their local area if they prefer.

Traffic Light Awareness Workshop

The Traffic Light Awareness Workshop is a 3 1/4 hour theory only course offered to drivers who have committed a traffic light offence as an alternative to prosecution. Workshops are held twice a week at the Driver Training Centre, Verdin Exchange, High Street, Winsford CW7 2BP between 0830 and 1145 or 1230 and 1545. The Traffic Light Awareness Workshop is not available nationally, therefore drivers who commit an offence in the Cheshire Police area have to attend the workshop in Cheshire.
