Cycle Routes in Cheshire

We have listed below three categories of cycling routes that are located only within the boundaries of Cheshire and some that pass through our county on their way to many varied locations throughout the country.

The three categories, National Cycle Network, Traffic Free Routes and Other Routes can be viewed by using the links below, many of the routes mentioned have links to downloadable maps and information about that route. These routes are suitable for cyclists of all ages, but children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Free cycle route leaflets for the above categories are available from libraries and the Countryside Management Service.

More cycle routes can be seen at the following websites:

Cyclists can also plan their journey using Cycle Streets online journey planner. The site is still in its BETA stage and uses mapping from Open Street Map. Both sites allow anyone to contribute to improving the route and journey information provided. Photos can also be uploaded to provide useful visual information within journey plans.

Open Cycle Map uses Open Street Map data to display an overview of cycle routes that have been mapped across the UK.
