Penalty Charges

Penalty Charges are issued for contravention of Parking Regulations - usually known as Parking Fines

Since the law changed in April of 2008, we have adopted a different system of penalty charges for parking contraventions. (The new law is called the Traffic Management Act 2004).

Two levels of Penalty Charges apply - one for “higher level” contraventions and one for "lower level" contraventions. In each band, there is a discount of 50% for payment within 14 days. The banded charges are as follows:

The contravention code and description is the National standard form to be adopted by all Local Authorities assuming Civil Enforcement powers under TMA 2004.

Observations and Time

Periods of observations to be undertaken and time allowed by the Civil Enforcement Officer before a Penalty Charge may be issued.

Penalty

The level of initial penalty charge for each contravention.
